The 12th annual Whole Earth and Watershed Festival returns on Saturday April 21st (the 3rd Saturday of April) with an abundance of exciting activities and exhibitors; inspiring artists and innovators; engaging live music on 2 stages, delicious local food and craft beer. The Festival is filled with ample opportunities for learning about the benefits of healthy living, building healthy communities, and restoring a healthy planet!

The Festival was filled with over 160 different Exhibitors including businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and educational organizations, artists, and innovators. The Festival offers an amazing opportunity to learn, network, and celebrate the best of the north state!

Fountain Bar and Beer Garden Picnic Area
We are so excited to once again offer the Festival’s Fountain Bar and Beer Garden! Located in front of the Miracle Mile Stage you will find delicious Italian sodas, fresh local kombucha; wine from Alpen Cellars and craft brews on tap from Woody’s Brewing Co., and Sierra Nevada! (*Must have valid ID)
Bring your friends, neighbors and family and join us for drinks, music and food in large area of lush grass in front of the stage – don’t forget your camp chairs and blankets!
Farmer’s Market Extends Hours
The Shasta Grower’s Farmer’s Market will have extended hours as part of the Festival (7:30am to 1:00pm) and is located on the back side of City Hall making it much easier this year to visit both the market and the Festival.
Incredible Music All Day Long
There will be plenty of incredible Live Music@the Festival all day long. You’ll want to bring your lawn chairs or blanket, your friends and neighbors, grab some food and something to drink and enjoy the amazing music happening on our 2 stages:
There will be an exceptional lineup of talented singers and songwriters from the Miracle Mile Record label sharing their music on the Miracle Mile Stage (located in the main fountain area in front of City Hall) from 11 am until 5pm. In addition to these amazing local musicians, the Festival is excited to bring The Brothers Comatose, a national touring act you won’t want to miss rocking the stage from 4 -5pm.
The Community Stage, located in the heart of the Sculpture Park, will not let you down with talented local student artists and musicians as well as select local bands from 11am to 5pm. A special Poetry Jam will be featured this year from 1-2pm!
Mindful Meditation Flash Mob@3pm – 3:50pm on the back patio near the Community Room. Please join us for a few minutes OR for the entire time! We hope you will feel the benefits of stopping, breathing, and calming. Our aim is to find peace within and offer it out to our world. Led by Alexa Singer-Telles Dharma Teacher in the lineage of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village
Numerous Activities for Children and Adults:
The Whole Earth Children’s Zone is part of the WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD this year sponsored by First 5 Shasta and offers 8 different activities for children and their families to engage their curiosity and facilitate a deeper understanding and connection to nature! From composting to bees and ants to bubbles and habitats there is a lot to learn and enjoy in this remarkable area. Come play and learn with us!
Don’t miss the Montessori inspired activities at the North State Parent Booth; meet some adorable farm animals at the Twin Palms 4-H Petting Zoo OR get some energy out playing laser tag in the Sculpture Park with Laser Recon!
BRAND NEW THIS YEAR:
Our S.T.E.A.M. Tent (located in the Sculpture Park) offers hand’s-on activities for young people ages 10 – 18. Activities include Tapigami, Take-A Party (emmerse yourself in taking apart all kinds of things!), Birdhouse Building, a 3D Printer station….and so much more!
Our Special Innovation Tent will provide adults with informative presentations by a wide variety of inspiring speakers ready to share their innovative projects! Check out the full schedule so you can plan your day!
10 Incandescent Light Bulbs can be exchanged for 10 LED bulbs at the City of Redding Utilities Booth in the Sculpture Park next to the Innovation Tent. Bring your bulbs and get FREE LED’s! It’s time to make the switch and save energy!
Try out an all-electric Nissan LEAF, an all-electric Chevy Bolt and a plug-in hybrid Toyota Prius Prime. The test drive will be from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.. Check in at the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project Booth #111 at the west side of the festival near the Redding Police Department. Remember to take your test drive BEFORE visiting the Beer Garden!
Climb On! is bringing their climbing wall with routes for both adults and kids located next to the big fountain. Get your adventure on this year at the Festival!
The 2017 WEWF is partnering with the Redding March for Science from the downtown Promenade (starting at 11am) to City Hall (1.5 mi)! RABA shuttle offers free and easy ride back. Celebrate Earth Day with both events and visit their Booth at the Festival
Don’t forget the FOOD!
Sample the delicious local cuisine at one of the Festival Food Vendors located in the breezeway between the Council Chambers and main City Hall building and near the big fountain circle! The Fountain Bar and Beer Garden will be near the Miracle Mile Stage by the fountain in front of City Hall.
Go Green to the Festival! Ride your bike and leave it in the guarded Bike Corral (located out in the fountain circle) or park at the downtown RABA Terminal and ride the continuous RABA SHUTTLES from the downtown RABA terminal to City Hall offered from 10:00am to 5pm. It’s FREE and FUN!
